Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has developed a multi-layer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) for the automotive market, which is Murata's first product (Murata survey results, as of June 25, 2025) with a size of 0805 inches (2.0 × 1.25mm), a rated voltage of 50Vdc, and a capacitance of 10 µ F. The new product code is GCM21BE71H106KE02 and has started mass production.

In recent years, with the improvement of autonomous driving levels, the number of systems installed in vehicles and the trend towards high performance have accelerated. As a result, the number of capacitors installed around the IC has increased, and the space inside the substrate is limited.
To this end, Murata developed and began mass producing Murata's first MLCC product with a size of 0805 inches, a rated voltage of 50Vdc, and a capacitance value of 10 µ F for the automotive market, using proprietary ceramic components and thin film technology. Compared with Murata's traditional product with a capacitance value of 10 µ F (size of 1206 inches (3.2 × 1.6mm)/rated voltage of 50Vdc), this product reduces the board area by about 53%, achieving miniaturization; Compared with the traditional product with a size of 0805 inches in Murata (capacitance value of 4.7 µ F/rated voltage of 50Vdc), the capacitance value of this product has increased by about 2.1 times, achieving large capacity. This product can be installed on a 12V car standard power cord, which helps save circuit board space and reduce the number of capacitors.
